WIIT clarifies that it is exempt from any responsibility in relation to the hacker attack that involved the MyCicero platform and its users (e.g., ATM Milano)
WIIT's Cloud services were not subject to any cyberattack; no other WIIT client was directly or indirectly involved
Milan, 15 April 2025 – With reference to recent news regarding the hacker attack that involved the MyCicero platform managed by Pluservice S.r.l. and the data archives of companies using the platform (e.g., ATM Milano), WIIT S.p.A. (“WIIT” or the “Company”; ISIN IT0005440893; WIIT.MI) clarifies that it is exempt from any responsibility and, in order to rectify some incorrect information, announces the following, reserving any assessment and initiative to protect its rights.
WIIT provides Pluservice exclusively with the infrastructure on which the MyCicero platform is hosted and therefore manages the basic technological services (so-called private cloud), without providing any security and prevention services against cyberattacks. Therefore, the application management of the platform as well as the cyber security activities to protect the platform and domains are carried out by Pluservice, directly or through third parties other than WIIT.
That said, the hacker attack directly targeted the platform managed by Pluservice, coming from outside WIIT's domains, while WIIT's Cloud services were not subject to any cyberattack; no other WIIT client was directly or indirectly impacted by the attack suffered by the MyCicero platform, thanks to a high level of segregation and protection. WIIT does not manage nor is responsible for the processing of personal data contained in the MyCicero archives.
In particular, WIIT, after having identified through its monitoring systems anomalous behaviours’ on the hosted infrastructures, traced the origin to Pluservice's perimeter and then suggested to the client the immediate isolation and suspension of the MyCicero service, which were promptly implemented. The strategy for restarting the platform and the service was decided independently by the client who formally and fully released WIIT from all possible risks and consequent damages.
WIIT confirms its total support to clients who have decided to use highly resilient infrastructures within Tier IV level data centres that guarantee a higher level of resilience. The now essential need to combine resilient infrastructures with high levels of Cyber Security coverage is the reason why, in most cases, clients adopt the Secure Cloud model, which integrates high infrastructural and data centre resilience, active systems management and high levels of security through an extensive Cyber Security platform
